Metal Matters 2025: Collaboration Driving Digital and Circular Innovation

Digi4Circular at the Heart of Metal Matters

On October 16, Digi4Circular proudly co-organized the Metal Matters 2025 event alongside AMIRES, Brain4Industry, and Multi-Material Design Using 3D Printing. The conference, held at BIOCEV, gathered more than 90 experts, companies, and research institutions to explore the future of advanced manufacturing, sustainability, and digital innovation. Our coordinator actively contributed to discussions, sharing insights on how cutting-edge technologies can enhance manufacturing processes and quality, a vision fully aligned with our mission to accelerate Europe’s digital and circular transformation.

Innovation and Cost in Focus

This year’s theme revolved around two powerful words: innovation and cost. Sessions covered the entire metal additive manufacturing chain, from raw material supply and design to simulation, production, and post-processing. Speakers demonstrated practical strategies for reducing costs without compromising quality. For example, automation saves time and resources, AI and simulation reduce errors and material waste, and metal powder recycling minimizes ecological and economic footprints. These solutions show how innovation can transform premium products into widely accessible solutions, opening new markets and opportunities.

Metal Matters Spotlight: Manuel Ott on Neural Networks

At Metal Matters 2025, Manuel Ott presented “Neural Networks for Enhancing Decentralized Manufacturing and Product Quality in Additive Manufacturing.” His talk explored how artificial intelligence can revolutionize additive manufacturing by improving precision, reducing errors, and optimizing resource use.

Manuel demonstrated how neural networks enable real-time monitoring and predictive adjustments during production. This approach minimizes material waste and ensures consistent quality, even in decentralized environments. By integrating AI-driven models, manufacturers can achieve higher efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising performance.

His insights reinforced the event’s core message: innovation and collaboration are essential for shaping the future of manufacturing. Neural networks offer scalable solutions that support sustainability goals while opening new business opportunities across the value chain.

Collaboration as a Catalyst for Change

Beyond presentations, Metal Matters 2025 proved the value of collaboration. Networking and knowledge exchange highlighted that innovation is not only about technology but also about strategic partnerships. Even in a digital age, personal connections remain essential to driving progress. Events like this strengthen the European manufacturing ecosystem and accelerate the transition toward a sustainable, competitive industry.

We thank our partners AMIRES, BIOCEV, Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, Digi4Circular, and media partners for their support in raising awareness of this important topic.
